At Baruch College, James studied finance. He became proficient in the Bloomberg & Fact-Set software on Baruch's famous trading floor. This is where he learned to study market trends.

At St. Anthony's High School, he learned in a progressive college preparatory environment, and started as tight end for New York's #1 ranked state champion Friar football team. While on the executive board of the Pi-Omega chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon in college, James actively participated in philanthropy with St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Pine Hill Street Clean Up.
